Backpack Ministry

The Backpack Ministry is responsible for assembling food sacks for students. We meet once a week or every other week, depending on the school's needs. We will gather in the backpack room, and the specific time and day of the week will be announced before the start of school.

During our meetings, we will pack 8-10 healthy food items into sacks using an assembly line method. Each tub will contain 10 sacks of food. Last year, we prepared 110 sacks each week. We often take a moment to pray for the students and staff at Allen Bowden.

The backpack ministry helps participants grow in faith by fostering relationships with the staff and students at Allen Bowden. This initiative demonstrates our care and love for them in various ways. In addition to providing weekly sacks of food for children during the school year, we also organize a coat drive in the winter and host an Aloha luncheon for the staff at the beginning of the school year. We also participate in other school drives and activities as needed. These efforts all contribute to our collective growth in faith.

Here are some ways you can help:
1. Set up food for assembly
2. Assemble the food
3. Deliver the tubs to the school weekly
4. Pick up food from the food bank approximately four times a year.
