Ash Wednesday Service

February brings the season of Lent, which begins with Ash Wednesday on February 18th. Lent is the 40-day period leading up to Easter (excluding Sundays) that ends on Holy Saturday, the day before Easter. The 40 days of Lent involve fasting, prayer, and sacrificial giving to deepen our connection with God. Ash Wednesday is a moving time marked by confession, repentance, and the imposition of a cross of ashes on the forehead. The ash marks symbolize mourning over sin and the reality of our human frailty.
We will have our meal at the usual time of 5:30. The 30-minute Ash Wednesday service will be at 6:15, and then we will hold classes (children, youth, and adults) and choir practice at 6:45. We will conclude the evening about 15 minutes later than usual.
If you don’t usually participate on Wednesday evenings, we would love to see you at dinner if you can make it. But we certainly hope you will prioritize the Ash Wednesday service at 6:15 as we enter this sacred season.
